Tasks include but are not limited to general cleaning of assigned areas, buffing, stripping & refinishing floor tile, carpet cleaning, trash disposal, unloading freight, ordering custodial supplies, painting, minor maintenance & repair, lawn care and maintenance of lawn equipment, cleaning district vehicles, assisting maintenance personnel and other misc.

Pay and Hours 1.
A Custodian will work an eight and one half (8 ) hour shift, Monday through Friday, throughout the school year.
During the shift, the Custodian will receive two (2)-paid 15-minute breaks and one (1)-unpaid 30-minute lunch or supper break.
Hours and days worked may be adjusted by the building Principal or Superintendent as needed.

Pay will be determined by placement on the Support Staff Salary Schedule.
A Custodian working the Day Shift will receive Base Pay as specified in the Support Staff Salary Schedule.
A Custodian working the Evening Shift will receive Base Pay plus an additional $.
20 per hour differential.
A Custodian working the Night Shift will receive Base Pay plus an additional $.
40 per hour differential.

Except for Sick Days, Personal Days, Bereavement Days, Holidays, and Vacation Days, a Custodian will not be paid for days not worked.
When possible, the Custodian should notify the building Principal in advance to share his/her intention of using a Leave Day.
Benefits 1.
A Custodian working a shift of four (4) or more hours will be entitled to the same insurance benefits that are offered to other full time employees by the school district.
2.
Paid Sick Leave, Personal Leave, and Vacation Days must be earned before they may be used.
After 30 days of initial employment, a Custodian may earn one (1) day of Leave or Vacation for each 10 days worked up to the maximum annual allotment of Leave or Vacation Days for the position.
3.
A full-time Custodian will receive 10 days of paid Vacation each year.
A part-time Custodian will not receive paid Vacation Days.
Vacation Days must be used during the school year in which they are granted.
Vacation days do not accumulate.
With limited exceptions, Vacation Days may not be taken while school is in session.
Administrative approval must be secured before Vacation Days may be taken.
4.
A Custodian will receive 12 Sick Leave Days, 2 Personal Leave Days, and 5 Bereavement Leave Days per year with pay.
Unused Bereavement Leave Days do not accumulate.
Unused Personal Leave Days may accumulate as Sick Leave.
Unused Sick Leave Days may accumulate without limitation.

A part-time Custodian will receive prorated Sick Leave, Personal Leave, and Bereavement Leave benefits.
6.
A Custodian may use five (5) Sick Leave Days during a school year without having to provide medical documentation for the absence.
On the use of the sixth (6th) Sick Leave Day and thereafter during a school year, upon returning to work, the Custodian must provide written documentation from a licensed health-care provider, specifically stating why he/she was unable to work on the day(s) absent.
A Custodian will not be paid for the additional Sick Leave Days used (six or more during a school year) unless the required written documentation is provided.
Substitute Custodians Pay for a Custodian who is currently employed by the school district and who is substituting for another custodian will be the Custodian's Base Pay plus any shift differential if applicable.
A Substitute Custodian who is not a regular employee of the school district will be paid according to the ESP Substitute Rate.
Summer Work A Custodian may be assigned to any building during the summer months at the discretion of the Superintendent.
Holidays 1.
A full-time Custodian will receive the following paid Holidays:
New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
2.
A part-time Custodian will receive no paid Holidays.
Duration of Salary, Benefits, and Conditions of Employment Salary, Benefits, and Conditions of Employment will remain in effect until changed by the Board of Education.
